TIPS FOR EXAMINATIONS
The Written examinations are conducted to test the knowledge, working skills, and abilities of the candidates that are required for any course.One should keep in mind that test preparations earlier as it won’t be last minute. Some of the useful tips for preparation for examinations are as follows:
BEFORE THE EXAMINATION:
- Practice Learning by Writing: The best style of learning ( clear concepts,Improves understanding, Improves handwriting,spelling and finally helps in time management).
- Thorough unit wise revision: Unit wise revision of syllabus at least three times before examination is very much essential to score good marks in any subject. New Learning during the examination should be avoided as sometime it will complicate and confuse the concepts already learnt.
- Understanding of Topic: The complete understanding of the subject matter is more required than mere memorising it. Clear the concepts and understand them thoroughly. As knowledge and understanding go hand in hand and knowledge without understanding is of no use.
- Practice Papers: Before the examination attempt sample papers and Mock exams. Evaluate your answers with the Model answers given in the text book/reference book. This will help in the identification of weak areas. Know the learning gaps and seek the help of teachers to overcome these gaps.
- Flash Cards and Group Revision: Flash cards on difficult topics will help in easy remembrance of the subject. Group revision of subject matter is good before examinations.
- Discussion with peers: Discussion of subject matter with peers will improves understanding and also helpful in clearing concepts.
- Time Management: Judiciously manage time as per the requirement.Avoid too early rising and too late sleeps. Remember- early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy,wealthy and wise. Presence of mind also depends upon sleep.
- Avoid stress: Feel confident about one's abilities. Don't indulge in any act of indiscipline.Avoid fasting/over eating. Prepare yourself to perform the best. Remember Board exams are not very tough and many more exams are waiting for you.
DURING THE EXAMINATION
- Look Confident and cheerful.
- Carry necessary examination material such as Pen Pencil,Eraser etc.
- Fill all the entries in your answer script correctly and read the instructions carefully.
- Don't misinterpret the questions.
- Attempt first of which you are confident so that you can have sufficient time for the difficult ones.
- Write in neat,clean & legible handwriting. How you write is equally important than what you write.
- Leave sufficient space between two answers.
- Be specific and to the point.
- Divide answers in paragraphs and give headings-underline headings and sub headings.
- Support your answer with suitable diagrams,sketches,examples and maps whichever possible and necessary.
- Avoid too much cutting and overwriting.
- Make efforts to attempt all the questions. Do not leave a single question nor any part of it. Manage your time properly.
- Follow the time limit given in the question paper.
- Never depend upon cheating,copying,helping and any other unfair means.
- Keep sometime for the revision of your answer script.Do not be in hurry to leave the examination hall.
- Do some post exam analysis.
